The Racing - The Basics of RC Racing
The Basics of RC Car Racing

If your just starting out then you'll want to know what RC cars are all about. The best advice we can give is  to come down to the club - we don't bite! Take a look around, see how things are being run and what everyone is doing. Get chatting to some of the drivers and see what some of their kit looks like. Everyone at the track will be able to give you lots of advice or at the very least point you in the right direction, so don't hesitate, get stuck in asking questions.

We race high performance RC racing cars - these are entirely re-buildable, tuneable, and are quite a step up from the common "toy" type from Argos!

If you buy your kit from a model shop and tell them exactly what you will be using it for then they will guide you in buying the right equipment. In doing this you will avoid making any mistakes by buying a kit that may turn out to be uncompetitive or unsuitable.

You can also buy second hand equipment to get you started.  This could save you a lot of money but make sure that you know what you are buying; again seek advice from the more knowledgeable club members.

To race at Yateley you will need:

A chassis and bodyshell*
Wheels and tires*
A motor*
An electronic speed control
A radio set - transmitter, receiver & steering servo
Basic tools for the build and maintenance of the chassis
Batteries and charger*
A 12v leisure battery or equivalent - you can use the battery in the car that you arrive in (if the driver doesn't mind!)

*manufacturer, specification or compounds depend on class you wish to compete in
